Acts of the Holy Spirit: Chapter 15
The first church had struggles and issues like any other church. As more and more Gentiles came to know Christ, there were some Jewish believers that wanted to impose the Old Testament customs on them. The church needed wise counsel to avoid a serious split in the church. The Holy Spirit worked through Peter, Barnabas and James and the controversy was eliminated. Harmony was restored to the church and the gentile believers were accepted by the Jewish believers.
God is honored when His children follow the Holy Spirit to resolve any issue that threatens the unity in the church. The Holy Spirit is free to work in an environment of unity when it exists in the church. The Gentiles in Antioch rejoiced I’m the encouragement they received.
