Wisdom for Life's Journey - Proverbs 6
God reveals Himself to us through His word. What we can know about Him and how we can honor Him is found in His Word. We know from Proverbs 6 that God is serious about us keeping our vows and promises. We also learn from Him that there are several things that God hates and are an abomination to Him. God hates pride and a lying tongue and those who devise evil plans. When we look at our society, we see much that God hates.
It is amazing to see that several of these things that God hates have to do with the tongue. Lying, bearing false witness and sowing discord among brothers are all sins of the tongue. Be on guard for a critical spirit that can injure others. Be careful not to spread rumors or be critical of others. God hates these things. We need to spend time with Him everyday to ask for deliverance from a root of bitterness or a critical spirit. “ The commandment is a lamp and the law a light; reproofs of instruction are the way of life.” Proverbs 6:23
