Wisdom for the Ages - Ecclesiastes 1

Solomon, the king of Israel and the son of David, was given tremendous wisdom from God and shared these truths 3000 years ago. Probably, toward the end of his life, he shared these words of wisdom from his life experiences.
Solomon saw a lot of vanity in what mankind pursues as life is lived out. In this first chapter, he talks about the earth, the sun and the wind and how God created these and set them in motion. He makes the statement that there is noting new under the sun. Man may make discoveries but they were already known by God. He puts life into perspective when he says that we, nor those who come after us, will be remembered by future generations. Let us make the most of the time we have left to influence those who are alive today.
