Acts of the Holy Spirit: Chapter 5

main image

God is jealous for His name and jealous for His church. This 5th chapter teaches us how serious God is about His work being carried out by Holy Spirit filled vessels. It is dangerous for a believer to have sin in our life that is not confessed and hinders the work of the Holy Spirit.
We also are able to see how the Holy Spirit can transform the life of believers and use them to build the church. These untrained, simple, fishermen from Galilee, were so full of the power of God that they defied the powerful religious rulers and spoke with boldness the truth of God. Many people became believers because these disciples were filled with the Holy Spirit from heaven. Two thousand years later God is still building His church and He is using Spirit filled believers to carry on the work. How is God using you to build His kingdom? Are you making yourself available for God to use? Are you seeking to be filled daily with the Holy Spirit? God wants to transform you and me by His Spirit to build His church. May we yield ourselves today to be cleansed, filled and useful to God.

Acts of the Holy Spirit: Chapter 4

main image

The Bible teaches that there is one baptism of the Holy Spirit but many fillings with the Holy Spirit. These Apostles had been filled on the day of Pentecost and filled again a few days later. The filling of the Spirit gave Peter and John boldness to stand up to the religious rulers who had put Jesus to death. Peter and John witnessed to the power and resurrection of Jesus and gave Jesus glory for the healing miracle that allowed the crippled man to be made whole. When the religious rulers saw the boldness of Peter and John they had to admit that they had been with Jesus. When the religious leaders released the Apostles, Peter and John went and gathered with the church. The church raised their voice in prayer to God for boldness to witness for  Christ and the Holy Spirit filled the church again. May we seek the filling of the Holy Spirit as the first church did and may we see many people come to Christ as we boldly proclaim Him as the Savior for sinners.
