Meaningful Moments with God - Day 18

main image

In my quiet time with God this morning I reflected on what a sacrifice Jesus made for me when He took my place and died for my sin. How “awesome“ God is, that when we began to read John almost 3 weeks ago, that today would be the day that we would read about the events that took place on that Thursday 2000 years ago. In John chapter 18, our reading for today, which falls on Thursday, lines up with what Jesus experienced when He observed the Passover with his disciples and was arrested on that Thursday long ago.
Spending some time with God this morning and thinking over the chapter in John that I read, helps me appreciate God’s love for me. These scriptures are so familiar to us, they can be read and passed over lightly unless we take the time to reflect on them and allow the Holy Spirit to penetrate our hearts with them. It is in these quiet moments that the scriptures come “alive “ in us and grow us in our faith. Thank God for these quiet times with Him and His Word.

Meaningful Moments with God - Day 17

main image

Jesus is our example in everything and He spent meaningful times in prayer to The Father. John, in chapter 17, .let’s us in on a very intimate prayer that Jesus shared with The Father. In this prayer, Jesus is praying for His disciples and those who would come to believe in Him through their sharing of the gospel.
Our special times with God daily are intimate times we have to share our heart with God and have Him share His will for our life. It is comforting to know that the Lord Jesus is praying to the Father that I would be with Him to behold His glory one day. Of all the things that Jesus taught His disciples, teaching them how to pray was the greatest. It allowed them too grow in their faith, receive forgiveness for sin, and receive power to live and serve Him. The greatest thing we could ever teach our children or grandchildren is how to pray and like Jesus, we should teach by example.
