Wisdom for Life's Journey - Proverbs 16

main image

This wonderful book of Proverbs constantly draws the comparison between good and evil. Proverbs is full of wisdom and warnings to encourage readers to choose the right paths in life. The beauty of God’s Word is that it offers hope for those who have made bad choices and gone down the wrong road. In Proverbs 16:6 we find these wonderful words “In mercy and truth Atonement is provided for iniquity; And by the fear of the Lord one departs from evil.”
It seems that Solomon was writing these inspired Proverbs from God and in the midst of all these warnings, God inserts His offer of mercy to those who have pursued evil ways. Verse 17 says “ The highway of the upright is to depart from evil.” God, in His mercy, makes a way for sinners to escape the wrath of God’s judgment. Spend some time with God today thanking Him for His mercy and forgiveness.

Wisdom for Life's Journey - Proverbs 15

main image

We are reminded in verse 2 of Proverbs 15, that “The eyes of thy he Lord are in every place, keeping watch on the evil and the good. From Proverbs, we learn much about the character of God. We learn what God loves and what He hates. “The way of the wicked is an abomination to the Lord” “But the prayer of the upright is His delight.” The Lord desires to correct us and lead us in a pathway of blessing. God corrects us with His Word. “A fool despises his father’s instruction but he who receives correction is prudent.”
For the believer who wants to experience the abundant life, he must spend time with the Lord in prayer and in His Word. Learning to obey and receive wisdom from God is the pathway to the abundant life. We will find it when we seek it with all our heart.
