Wisdom for Life's Journey - Proverbs 20

There are some deep wells to draw from in God’s Words of wisdom from the Proverbs. In Proverbs 20:5 it says “Counsel in the heart of man is like deep water, but a man of understanding will draw it out.”The person who draws from these deep wells of wisdom God has made available, will not only be blessed but their children will be blessed.  In verse 7, we read that a righteous man walks in integrity and his children are blessed after him.
We are known by our deeds according to verse 11. What we do and how we act before others often speaks louder than our words. There is a warning in verse 25 that pertains to making rash vows to God and then considering going back on them. We can be ensnared by what we commit to the Lord with our mouth that isn’t backed up with our actions. Pray for God’s wisdom daily and drink from His deep wells.

To nourish  our bodies and keep us physically healthy, we need to eat everyday; that is also true of our spiritual lives. We need to be nourished for our spiritual well-being by feasting on the Word of God. Proverbs offers wisdom and instruction for our physical and spiritual lives.
Proverbs 19 counsels is to use discretion to curb our anger and use mercy in dealing with the failures of others. Verse 20 says “Listen to counsel and receive instruction that you may be wise in your latter days.”
We are also told that the Lord’s plans and counsel for us is far better than our plans. Seeking God everyday for His wise counsel is wisdom.
