Wisdom for Life's Journey- Proverbs 13

main image

There is so much to glean from the words of wisdom found in Proverbs. We sometimes forget that Solomon was inspired by God to write these truth’s that God had taught him from his experiences in life. God had given Solomon more wisdom than any other created man has ever possessed. Proverbs 13 begins with a declaration that “A wise son will heed his father’s instruction.”Blessed is the person who has an earthly father that can share wisdom and a Heavenly Father who has all wisdom.
This Proverbs says that those who fear God’s commands will be rewarded and the law of the Lord is a fountain of life. God has made it possible to have a fountain of wisdom for life’s journey available through His Word. May we seek God everyday and drink from that fountain of wisdom that guards and satisfies our soul.

Wisdom for Life's Journey - Proverbs 12

It is amazing how many scriptures in Proverbs deal with the tongue. Wisdom or lack of wisdom is expressed by what comes forth from our mouth. Proverbs 12:13 says “ The wicked is ensnared by the transgression of his lips.” Verse 14 says”A man will be satisfied with good by the fruit of his mouth.” We must be careful how we speak to others. Verse 18 says “There is one who speaks like the piercings of a sword, but the tongue of the wise promotes health.”
We can easily injure with our words. Proverbs 12 begins by telling us that “Whoever loves instruction loves knowledge but he who hates correction is stupid.” God’s Word serves as an instructor in the way to guard our tongue. We could all use some correction from the Lord in regards to our tongue. Let us not forget that “Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.”
