Wisdom for Life's Journey - Proverbs 23

Several times in the Proverbs Solomon shares insights from God about the raising and discipline of children. In verse 13 parents are encouraged to not withhold correction from a child. We live in a society where parents are struggling to know How to discipline their kids. Now parents can be prosecuted for child abuse if they discipline their kids the way previous generations did. Kids need correction and finding ways to discipline them in this culture is a challenge. Praying and seeking God each day and trusting Him for direction in how we discipline our children is imperative. Failing to discipline our children or being too permissive carries dire consequences. We need God’s wisdom and patience as we parent our children and grandchildren.

Wisdom for Life's Journey - Proverbs 22

God has preserved His Word to remind us of things that are good for us. In Proverbs 22 there are several reminders that serve to encourage us in the way we should live. In verse one, we are reminded that a good name is more precious than riches. In verse 4 we are reminded that a lifestyle that  expresses itself in humility and fear of the Lord will be honored.
We are reminded in verse 9 that our generosity to others who are less fortunate will be blessed. We are reminded to avoid those who do evil so, we are not influenced by them. It is important to read God’s Word daily and apply the truth to our lives. By these truths we will be blessed.
